Getting therapy started can be overwhelming and confusing. I try to reduce barriers, increase transparency, and provide you with all your options. Please let me know if you have any questions. I am here to support you in any way whether you decide to move forward with me or another therapist.

Fees & Insurance

My practice operates on a private pay basis, which allows me to provide high-quality, individualized care without the limitations of insurance. This model reflects the cost of living, advanced education, and specialized training that support the depth of care I offer.

  • Payments are processed securely via Stripe. Payment is due at the end of each session and can be made using FSA, HSA, and all major debit or credit cards.

  • I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill, which you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. A small additional fee be included if you choose to use Thrizer for superbill submission.

If you have any questions about payment, processing fees, or reimbursement options, feel free to reach out here!

Private Pay Guide

Steps to getting started:

  1. Set up a free 30 minute consultation call. In this call we will discuss goals, compatibility, rates, payment, scheduling, and steps moving forward.

  2. If you would like to proceed, I will send you the onboarding paperwork and Good Faith Estimate so you know how much therapy services are with me and what you can expect to be charged.

  3. Set up time to get started! The first couple sessions we will do an intake, make sure you know your rights, review the policies, set the groundwork for our work together, and start working towards your goals :)

  4. Payment will be processed at the end of session and will not be billed to insurance or any other third parties.

Considerations when using insurance

    • Not all therapy is covered: Many insurance plans have specific limits or don't cover therapy at all, especially for certain types of therapy or conditions.

    • Out-of-pocket costs: Even with insurance, you may still face high co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket expenses

    • Mandatory diagnosis: Insurance companies typically require a mental health diagnosis for coverage, which may not always align with the therapeutic approach or individual needs.

    • Loss of privacy: Using insurance for therapy can expose your personal information and treatment details to the insurance company and potentially other parties.

    • Privacy implications: This information can become part of your medical record and may be accessed by other insurance providers or employers, potentially impacting future coverage or job opportunities.

    • Expedited and streamlined services: Doing private pay allows the client to almost immediately start services without the headache of insurance.

    • "Medical necessity" requirements: Insurance companies may have their own criteria for what they consider "medically necessary," which can influence treatment plans and duration.

    • Session limits and duration: Insurance providers may limit the number of sessions or the length of each session, potentially impacting the effectiveness of treatment.

    • Loss of agency: This can lead to a feeling of loss of control over treatment decisions and the ability to choose the most effective approach.

    • Low reimbursement rates: Insurance companies often pay therapists lower rates than they may charge for self-pay clients, making it financially challenging for therapists.

    • Administrative burdens: Dealing with insurance claims, paperwork, and audits can be time-consuming and administratively complex for therapists.

    • Delayed payments: Insurance companies may delay payments, creating financial instability for therapists and their practices.

    • "Clawbacks": Insurance companies can even claw back payments previously received, further complicating financial planning for therapists.

Attendance & Cancelation

Therapy is most effective with consistent commitment, which is why I expect weekly sessions for at least 3-6 months to support meaningful progress. If a weekly commitment isn’t feasible, I recommend exploring therapy intensives as an alternative.

  • 24-Hour Cancellation Policy – Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full session fee.

  • Mutual Cancellation Policy – If I need to cancel within 24 hours, your next session will be free as a commitment to fairness.

  • Late Arrivals – Sessions are forfeited and charged in full if you are more than 15 minutes late.

  • No-Shows – After three no-shows, your recurring session time may no longer be guaranteed.

Therapy is a shared commitment, and mutual respect for time ensures a productive and supportive experience. We will work together to find times that work for you. If you have any questions or need to explore alternative options, feel free to reach out here!

No Surprises Act & Good Faith Estimate

At Jade Path Counseling, I believe in clear, upfront pricing so you can make informed decisions about your care. Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of services before you begin therapy.

For example, if you attend weekly sessions at $150 per session, the estimated monthly cost would be $600 (not including transaction fees). Actual costs may vary based on session frequency and treatment needs, but you will always receive a detailed estimate before starting services.

If you have any questions or would like to request a Good Faith Estimate, feel free to reach out here.

Diversity & Inclusion

I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for ALL individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, or background. I honor the diverse experiences, identities, and histories that shape each person’s journey and recognize the impact of systemic and intergenerational challenges. My practice is rooted in cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and a deep commitment to equity and belonging. You are welcome here as you are—your story, your struggles, and your growth matter.

I’m ready for lasting change

Starting therapy can feel scary, and that’s completely okay. It takes courage to step into the unknown and face what’s been weighing on you. Know that you don’t have to have all the answers or the right words—just showing up is enough. This is a space where you are seen, heard, and supported without judgment. Growth isn’t about perfection; it’s about allowing yourself to be real, to heal, and to move forward at your own pace. You are not alone in this—I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
